Types of drives

Electric drives and openers are mainly used to control skylights and windows, but they can also be used to control slats, hatches, entrances, or special applications for air conditioning units, automatic lines, or in the theater industry.

Spindle drives

These are drives that are most often used for opening skylights, but their application options are much wider. One of the most used drives in the Czech Republic is the D8Fce drive from the MINGARDI brand. It is produced in versions with a stroke of 200, 300 and 400mm, its force is 500N and a static force of more than 3000N. It is supplied with potential signaling and all mounting brackets. The bracket can be attached along the entire length of the aluminum housing. The drive is equipped with limit switches and an overheating protection.

Rack drives

Rack and pinion drives consist of several parts, the main part is the drive unit with a gear wheel. The other part is the rack and pinion, which serves as the extendable part. The advantage of these types of drives is the possibility of mechanically coupling 2 or more rods using connecting rods and gear drives. Thanks to this, only 1 drive unit is sufficient for opening large skylights, for which multi-point fastening is required. Drive EVO 2 drives from the brand MINGARDI are the most used drives in this category. The drive is produced in 230V and 24V versions (with RWA/SHEV certification) and has a force of 1000N. They are equipped with current switches and their advantage is easy installation and a wide selection of rod lengths from 230mm to 1000mm stroke.

Chain drives

Chain drives are mostly used for opening windows, but some types can also be used for opening skylights. As the name suggests, the main pulling part is the chain, which is wound into the drive housing. Thanks to this, the drives are more compact and to a certain extent, the design is also taken into account. A proven classic in this category is the Micro02 drive from the MiNGARDI brand. It is a drive with an adjustable stroke of 250mm or 380mm. The drive is equipped with an aluminum housing and the package also includes a mounting bracket for windows that open outwards. For windows that open inwards, a special bracket must be purchased, for PVC windows it is necessary to order an extended screw.
